Fusion provides a range of specialized training courses and workshops designed to provide interpretation and analysis scientists with a broad understanding in the respective subject. These classes are designed, where appropriate, to teach the fundamentals of the discipline and also teach the application of Fusion's expert software to the student's specific problems. Fusion also offers one-on-one consulting upon request by our clients to solve their most difficult challenges, review and critique prospects, and offer technology management solutions across the upstream business. Fusion offers the following training services to our clients:

 DHI Interpretation & Risking

Fusion has teamed up with Rose and Associates to offer a two day course on seismic DHI (Direct Hydrocarbon Indicator) interpretation and the risking of seismic amplitude anomalies in exploration. Rose & Associates has led two industry consortia over the past three years to develop a DHI interpretation work process guide and educational tool to help risk seismic amplitude anomalies. The methodology (in a software called SAAM) to evaluate all AVO class amplitude anomalies will be described including basic risk analysis definitions and concepts, prospect exploration setting, seismic and rock physics data adequacy, and numerous anomaly characteristics. Prospect examples and associated probabilities of geological success will be shown. Trends and "lessons learned" from the 100 drilled prospects in the database will be reviewed in a qualitative and quantitative manner. The course will be of benefit to geologists, geophysicists, and exploration managers. It will be taught by a group of the acknowledged experts in the field who led the consortia; John Castagna Ph.D., Mike Forrest, and Rocky Roden.

AVO School

This course is a two-day introduction to AVO analysis emphasizing fundamentals, best practices, problems and pitfalls with this technique. The workshop is taught in 5 parts including (1) an introduction including basic theory, terminology and basic AVO processing methods, (2) AVO interpretation including AVO classification, the rock physics basis of AVO, AVO attributes and cross-plotting techniques, (3) problems and pitfalls including data quality, tuning, noise effects, complex modeling issues and uncertainty, (4) AVO in high impedance reservoirs, and (5) Summary of learnings, best and worst practices, track record of the method worldwide. The workshop is taught by Dr. John P. Castagna, Chairman of Fusion and a world-renowned expert in the field of AVO and direct detection methods.

Integrated Geopressure School

Geopressure prediction is a technology that requires expert knowledge on the part of the practitioner along with a high level of integration of seismic, wellbore and geologic information. The impact of geopressure prediction is significant in that well problems can cost $ Millions to mitigate. Fusion has one of the best geopressure teams in the oil industry. This team offers a 3-day school in geopressure prediction that is designed to give the well-site geologist, interpreter and drilling engineer an improved understanding of the process of pressure prediction and the common problems and pitfalls that can lead you astray in performing this essential function. The instructor is Dr. Alan R. Huffman, President of Fusion Petroleum Technologies and a recognized global expert in the field.

Theory & Practice of Spectral Decomposition

This 2-day workshop is designed to provide all of the fundamentals of spectral decomposition including the various methodologies & applications of spectral decomposition to seismic data, and discussion of the various techniques, their strengths, weaknesses and pitfalls. Day 1 covers the basics of the theory and its application, and Day 2 provides hands-on application of spectral decomposition to specific geophysical problems including attenuation, tuning analysis, frequency-dependent AVO, thickness determination, and interpretation of reflectivity patterns. Case histories used in the workshop include examples from Texas, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, North Sea, Offshore GOM and elsewhere.

Geometry & Statics School

This 2-day workshop is designed to provide all of the fundamentals of geometry and statics analysis including the various methodologies & applications to seismic data, and discussion of the various techniques, their strengths, weaknesses and pitfalls. Day 1 covers the basics of the theory and its application, and Day 2 provides hands-on application of the methods to specific geophysical problems in land and OBC marine data. The school is taught by Chuck Diggins, Fusion´s Chief Geophysicist.
