The level of sophistication of today´s geophysical analysis toolkit requires that more focus be placed on the quality of the seismic data that is being used. Fusion provides full-cycle seismic processing and imaging that is designed to provide the client with the most robust data possible. Fusion provides a full service 2D and 3D processing capability to address the most difficult exploration or production problems faced by our clients worldwide. In support of this capability, Fusion developed the GeoPRO™ processing and analysis platform, which is a LINUX OS, XML universal interface for the processing of seismic data. The GeoPRO™ toolkit is a 21st Century solution that will change the way people do seismic processing, imaging and model building. Fusion has integrated the GeoPRO™ platform with state-of-the-art supercomputing facilities provided by Linux Networx including the next-generation Clusterworx Advanced cluster management system which controls and manages Fusion´s LINUX cluster computing resources. Fusion maintains processing facilities in The Woodlands Headquarters location, as well as supporting facilities in Boulder, Colorado. We offer a suite of imaging services designed to support our other services that includes:

Geometry and Statics Processing

With the acquisition of Renegade Geophysics LLC in August of 2007, Fusion became the world leader in geometry and statics technology and its application to complex land and ocean-bottom cable marine surveys. The Seismic Studio™ toolkit contains the most advanced software and work flows for dealing with geometry and statics problems, and represents a sixth-generation technology developed by the worlds´ foremost leaders in the field. Chuck Diggins, Chief Geophysicist of Fusion, supervises the application of all geometry and statics solutions for our clients to assure the best quality results.

The Seismic Studio™ toolkit permits full geometry correction, refractor analysis, refraction statics analysis, reflection statics analysis, refraction tomography and node-based turning-ray tomostatics. In addition to the current capabilities in the Seismic Studiotoolkit, Fusion is also pleased to announce the availability of the new Cimarron™ advanced statics package, which includes a revolutionary new hybrid tomography solution and the first and only available fully-anisotropic refraction analysis and statics solution for application to wide-azimuth seismic data. The combination of Seismic Studio™ and Cimarron™ demonstrates that Fusion is the undisputed leader in this field.

Pre-Stack Time and Depth Imaging

Fusion has developed and implemented a complete imaging toolkit in the GeoPRO™ platform that permits Fusion to provide full 2D and 3D imaging solutions to our clients. This platform includes both PSTM and PSDM Kirchhoff imaging solutions and Wave Equation migration solutions. With the integration of Fusion proprietary noise suppression algorithms and the front-end processing and geometry and statics expertise of the Renegade Geophysics Seismic Studio™ software, Fusion is able to offer the highest quality in imaging to its clients worldwide.

The GeoPRO™ platform is designed as a LINUX OS, XML interface for processing of seismic data, and includes all of the analysis and batch processing tools required to process complex seismic data. The main panel (back display) and the job flow builder (front display) show the primary batch processing system.

Controlled Amplitude and Phase Processing

Seismic data processed to achieve zero-phase and preserve relative amplitudes significantly increases the probability of finding hydrocarbons. In many areas of the world amplitude anomalies indicate the presence of hydrocarbons. Accurate phase determination can be critical for the discrimination of hard streaks or porous sands from hydrocarbon-bearing sands. Correct amplitude and phase are required for successful application of seismic analysis and quantitative seismic techniques. Fusion has developed specific processing techniques for preserving amplitudes and producing zero-phase results, which we call Controlled Amplitude and Phase (CAP) processing. All have undergone extensive testing in many different sedimentary basins so that we are confident that they can produce the required results.

AVO & Attribute Pre-Processing

The processing of high-quality seismic data for direct detection of hydrocarbons and seismic attribute analysis requires that great care be taken to preserve the integrity of the seismic waveform. This requires that the numerous processing steps involved in a typical processing flow do not distort the seismic trace and degrade the quality of the analysis that is performed after the processing. Basic processing steps such as multiple suppression, deconvolution, spectral whitening or balancing, and Q compensation can have significant impact on the analysis process, especially where spectral attributes and offset dependent attributes are involved.

Fusion utilizes its expertise in special processing of seismic data to provide optimized processing flows that deliver the most robust seismic analysis possible from the seismic data. Fusion evaluates all of its analysis methods with a range of processing flows so that the effect of the processes are well understood and will not negatively effect the seismic analysis. This attention to detail assures that Fusion can provide the best seismic attribute analysis.

I-Frac™ Fracture Imaging & Detection

Fusion has developed an integrated work flow for fracture imaging and detection that utilizes the full power of Fusion´s proprietary technology. This work flow, trade-named I-Frac™ includes full Kirchhoff imaging of azimuthally restricted gather sets, followed by velocity ellipticity analysis, azimuthal AVO analysis, azimuthal spectral analysis using the ExSpect™ algorithm, and azimuthal amplitude analysis

The I-Frac™ methodology utilizes several of Fusion´s proprietary technologies including REVEL™ residual velocity analysis, ExSpect™ spectral decomposition on azimuth stacks, and AVO attributes on azimuth stacks. The analysis can be performed on P-wave or mode-converted data.

Processing Quaility Assurance and Quality Control

Fusion offers Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) services for those clients that do not have the internal resources to ensure high quality contractor processing results. Quality Control usually is accomplished by monitoring a contractor's processing to make sure that specific contractual standards are met. Fusion can supply personnel to monitor contractor processing in any location, be it an acquisition boat or in the contractor's office. We will also help the customer write Requests for Bids, help evaluate the processing bids and complete the entire bidding process if necessary for basic processing projects where Fusion doesn´t bid on the work. Fusion personnel have extensive experience QC'ing contractor processing. Quality Assurance is an interactive analysis procedure that identifies problems in seismic data and their solutions through the use of processes, tools and processing templates. The most important aspects of processing are velocity picking and choosing processing parameters. Therefore, Fusion has developed specialized tools to facilitate those two aspects. Fusion has well-defined processing standards for preserving amplitude and phase information, stratigraphic information and structural information. QA/QC services will directly affect:

  • Amplitude and phase of the seismic data

  • Resolution of subtle prospects

  • Geopressure prediction

  • Structural interpretation

  • Stratigraphic interpretation
